Apple’s big developer event, WWDC, is coming up — but don’t expect a huge AI reveal just yet. (Worldwide Developers Conference)
Apple’s big developer event, WWDC, is coming up — but don’t expect a huge AI reveal just yet.
According to early reports, this year is being treated as a “gap year” while Apple prepares bigger AI launches for 2026.
Here’s what’s happening:
Apple will open up its new AI models to developers, but they’re still behind what rivals like Google and OpenAI offer.
Some existing features will be rebranded as “AI-powered” to shift perception.
Major updates, like a smarter Siri or a ChatGPT-style assistant, are still delayed.
A much larger model (on par with GPT-level AI) is being developed, but concerns about accuracy are holding back its release.
Why it matters: While Apple plays it safe, other companies are moving fast. This slow rollout might leave Apple users underwhelmed — at least for now. 2026 could be the real turning point.
Record labels, AI music startups in talks to settle lawsuits with licensing deals
Universal, Warner, and Sony are negotiating with AI music leaders Udio and Suno to resolve billion-dollar copyright lawsuits and create a framework for artist compensation.
Key points:
Labels want licensing fees and equity in exchange for using artists’ work in AI training.
Lawsuits from 2024 allege massive copyright infringement, seeking up to $150K per track.
Parallel negotiations create a race to strike the first deal and end litigation.
Why it matters: Much like past battles with Napster and streaming, the industry seems ready to monetize AI rather than resist it — turning legal fights into business opportunities.
Turn Deep Research into Infographics with Google Gemini
This tutorial shows how to use Google Gemini’s Deep Researchfeature to analyze complex topics and automatically generate interactive infographics from the findings.
Steps:
Visit Gemini’s site and click “Deep Research” at the bottom of the chat.
Enter your topic and review Gemini’s research plan — click “Edit plan” or “Start research.”
Once the report is ready, hit “Create” and select “Infographic” to build a visual HTML output.
Use Code and Preview tabs in Canvas to view and tweak your infographic.
Pro tip: Be as specific as possible in your query — include timeframes, comparisons, or focus areas for better results.
AI Outperforms Humans on Emotional Intelligence Test
In a new study by the University of Geneva and University of Bern, AI models like GPT-4 and Claude 3.5 outscored humans on emotional intelligence tests, suggesting machines may now better understand and respond to emotions than people.
Key points:
Six top AI models scored an average of 81% vs. 56% for humans on EI assessments.
GPT-4 even generated valid new emotional intelligence tests on its own.
Researchers say this reflects true emotional reasoning, not just pattern mimicry.
Why it matters: Even if AI doesn’t feel, its ability to recognize and respond to emotions could transform industries like mental health, education, and customer support.
